About Us

My name is Chuck Scherbaum and my story about Alaska is one of a love story. I first came to Alaska in 1961, following my Mother who had come to Alaska to be close to my Grandmother. I was 12 years old and coming from Indiana, Alaska was like arriving in the last frontier, which at the time, it was. I fell in love with the mountains, the people and the great fishing. I guess that’s why I’m still here.

I grew up in the Anchorage, Eagle River area; we had a cabin on Fire lake which became our family home. I am a graduate of Anchorage East High and the University of Alaska. We have degrees in Aviation Science and Education. I am a commercial pilot. I love floats as it opens up the number of places you can go here in Alaska. Back then, I wanted to teach school and fly fisherman to remote locations in the summer. 

We also joined the Alaska National Guard and got to see Alaska from one end of the state to the other. I did this for a couple of years but needed more income to support my growing family; my wife and two sons.  Good flying jobs at the time were hard to get.

I moved my family to Seattle in 1977 and invested into a car rental company which we eventually franchised to over 100 locations. In 1990 I had the opportunity to sell most of my interest in the car rentals and moved back to Anchorage. I kept and operated one of the remaining franchise locations. In 1996 I sold that franchise, got my General contractors license and started building homes and selling modulars from Canada and manufactured homes from Oregon.

In 1998 I got my Real Estate license, so I could also sell houses and lots on which to build. I sold a number of houses to people who could not wait for one to be built.  I sold the contractor business and decided to concentrate on just the realtor portion of my business this past year. I want to be the best  realtor I can be.  We have worked on commercial projects, lots of land deals and multi unit sales. I enjoy working with people and if you ask I’ll even tell you a great place to fish that is off the beaten path. Ask me about the 36 inch Rainbow I caught or better yet, ask me to show it to you..
